The Organisation

The Centre for Community-Driven Research (CCDR) is a non-profit organisation bringing much needed change to the way we think about community engagement in health. Our vision is to create a more patient-driven health sector and our mission is to build capacity in the non-profit sector to support patients and their families, and facilitate meaningful connection between service providers, research organisations, the non-profit sector, practitioners, industry, government and the communities for which they provide a service or aim to benefit.  CCDR host a Patient and Carer Organisation Standing Committee to provide a place for non-profit organisations to work together and create a health system that addresses the needs of patients and their families.  Our flagship research program, Patient Experience, Expectation and Knowledge (PEEK) program, was launched in June 2017 and we also host Pancreatic Cancer Support Australia, a national support service for pancreatic cancer patients and their families.

The Role

This is a Research Associate role in relation to the PEEK program, specifically a current study to understand the experience of people with Chronic Heart Failure, also investigating the underlying condition hyperkalaemia to see whether this has an additional impact/burden on patients.

Key duties include:

  • Conducting telephone interviews with participants
  • Supporting recruitment to studies where possible

About You

To be considered for this role you will be empathetic to the needs of patients, particularly those who are vulnerable. You will be confident, professional and excel in written/verbal communication and a gentle phone manner. You will need to have an understanding of the health system. You will demonstrate a proven background in achieving goals and targets and be able to work independently.

For this role, you will need to be available in late afternoon/early evenings to conduct interviews

Desired qualifications

  • Degree in or equivalent experience in a health-related field
  • Experience in or understanding of health research
  • Experience in or understanding of non-profit organisations, government and/or the pharmaceutical industry
  • An understanding of the principles of patient advocacy

You will need to have:

  • Access to a computer and internet access
  • Access to a telephone (to use for interviews)
  • A quiet place to conduct telephone interviews
